Super Bowl LIV Betting Preview
We have finally arrived at Super Bowl LIV. The 54th Super Bowl happens to take place on the NFL’s 100th season so it will be a special event to some. The Kansas City Chiefs take on San Francisco 49ers in the final match of the season. Same as every year there is major hype around every aspect of this sporting masterclass. Viewers are excited for much more than just the game itself but the sense of community it creates with Super Bowl parties and other events.
This game will crown the NFL champions. The Kansas City Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years. It happens to be the second-longest run between consecutive Super Bowls. That current record is held by the New York Jets with a 51-year run. San Francisco doesn’t suffer the same faith as they were beaten Super Bowl XLVII 34-31 by the Ravens.
The 49ers should be eager to match most Super Bowl wins (6) with the Steelers and Patriots. San Francisco has won 5 Super Bowls but the last came in 1995. It is going to be a tough game to play for both teams. All the neutral fans hope it won’t follow the previous Super Bowl 13-3 finish. They would much rather a shootout type final that racks over 50 points.
Kansas City Chiefs vs San Francisco 49ers
When: Sunday 2nd February, 6.30 PM
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
Our Pick: San Francisco 49ers
The Chiefs open up as favorites for the Super Bowl at (-1.5) against the spread. Kansas is a powerful force on offense with superstars like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill. It is important for San Francisco not to underestimate the potential of the Chiefs to blow away defenses. San Francisco might just take the Patriots blueprint from last year’s AFC Championship game.
The Patriots blueprint involved committing between 4-6 rushers onto Mahomes. The Chiefs struggled to get a proper grip of the game against the Patriots even though they were defeated in OT. The 49ers have the potential to improve on the Patriots approach and almost shut down Mahomes. He still has the potential to bomb a 60-yard touchdown pass but statistically more than one of those a game is very unlikely.
San Francisco is likely to lean on their running game again. Unless the Chiefs can respond and shut it down Jimmy G probably won’t throw the ball more than 11-12 times. Deebo Samuel is +1200 to get the first touchdown and the way San Francisco will run he is a good call for a $10 stake. Travis Kelce is likely to be on a bomb from Mahomes and is decent value for a touchdown anytime at -110.
The Chiefs will struggle against a solid San Francisco defense combined with a strong offensive running game. Even if Kansas can somehow stop a running game San Francisco are capable of moving the ball efficiently in the air. The 49ers have a very all-round team on offense and defense and will have too many different types of plays they can run against the Chiefs. Get the 49ers at +110 with no line here at VIP.
