English Premier League Tipsheet: Stats and Bet Builders

Although the FIFA World Cup has just reached its conclusion, there is no rest for those who play the beautiful game. While the beauty of this season sees the international game pivot back to domestic English Premier League warfare rather quickly.

So quick that there is only eight days’ rest between the breathless final that took place between Argentina and France and the return of the Premier League. This means Boxing Day football is soon on the agenda and with this in mind, we have our best tips to gift you before Christmas.

Brentford vs Tottenham – Tottenham Win

Although Tottenham’s frenetic 4-3 win over Leeds was only last month, the last outing for Antonio Conte’s men feels so long ago. Now though, the North London outfit will have to reboot their season after a floundering Autumn and to do that, they will need to go on a winning run.

A run that will have to start as early as Boxing Day and with Harry Kane looking to put England penalty woes behind him, Brentford may act as the perfect opposition in which to get rid of his international frustration and with this in mind, we are backing an away win in this all-capital clash.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham – BTTS Yes

Another London derby is next in our list, as Crystal Palace play host to Fulham. Both teams find themselves in the relative comfort of mid-table at present, however neither team can afford to be comfortable for too long.

Although the outcome of the match is largely immaterial for us, as we are focusing on whether both teams will score. The Eagles have scored in each of their last six home games, the Cottagers have scored in each of their last six away and therefore, we are backing both to net on Boxing Day.

Everton vs Wolves – 1-1 Draw

A hugely important game takes place at Goodison Park on Boxing Day, as Everton play host to Wolves. The visitors currently prop up the table but can now call upon the managerial services of Julen Lopetegui and if there is one thing the Spaniard needs to solve, it is the lack of goals.

The Molineux outfit are averaging just over a goal every other game. Relegation form in anyone’s language. Thankfully for them, we believe neither team will set out to lose this one and therefore, we are backing the points being shared at the weekend.

Leicester vs Newcastle – Over 2.5

There is no doubt that Leicester have got their defensive house in order and as a consequence they are beginning to move up the Premier League table. While because of further security at the back, their attack is also starting to gain more confidence.

Something that Brendan Rodgers’ men will certainly need on Boxing Day, as they prepare to welcome highflying Newcastle to the King Power Stadium. This fixture certainly looks entertaining on paper, and we believe there will be at least three total goals on the scoresheet.

Southampton vs Brighton – Brighton Win

With Nathan Jones being recently installed as Southampton manager, his next task is to go up against a club that employed him as a player. That club is Brighton, and the objective will be to get the better of the Seagulls on Boxing Day.

However, such a feat will be easier said than done and with the Saints looking more likely to march to relegation at the end of the season, we believe that the visitors will not only earn maximum points but local bragging rights at the same time.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool – Liverpool/Liverpool

As Unai Emery continues to get to grips with his recently inherited Aston Villa squad, he must prepare for the visit of Liverpool on Boxing Day and with the Merseyside men having both their last two Premier League outings, they will now look to continue that impressive run further.

While before their trip to the West Midlands, Liverpool have been ahead at the interval in six of their last 20 away league outings and from there, they have gone on to win 10. With this in mind, we are backing Jurgen Klopp’s men to win both halves at Villa Park.

Arsenal vs West Ham – Over 1.5

Although Arsenal may have gone into the World Cup break as league leaders, you do not get any prizes in November. Now it is up to Mikel Arteta and his players to reign supreme across the full length of the campaign.

While even though they are favourites to get the better of West Ham, our focus is solely on Boxing Day goals. The Gunners’ last 14 home league outings have ended with two or more total goals being scored and with this in mind, we are backing number 15 on Sunday.

Chelsea vs Bournemouth – Chelsea To Score First

Graham Potter will be rather pleased that the World Cup paused the Premier League season by a month. Before then the Blues had not only failed to win any of their last five outings, but they had also lost their last three.

Now though, the festive period offers the Blues the perfect opportunity to hit the reset button and put their opposition to the sword. Something that we believe they will do to Bournemouth and therefore, we are backing the hosts to open proceedings on Monday evening.

Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest – Manchester United Win To Nil

As Manchester United enter a post-Cristiano Ronaldo world, they will look to justify their decision to release the Portuguese forward. While the only way they can truly do so is by returning to Premier League action with a win.

Standing in their way of such a feat is Nottingham Forest and although Steve Cooper’s men won their last outing before the break, they still find themselves languishing in the relegation zone. Which means not only should United come out on top, but they should earn a clean sheet as well.

Leeds vs Manchester City – Erling Haaland Anytime Goal

While the World Cup was in full swing, Erling Haaland was afforded the chance to rest and recuperate. Good news for Manchester City supporters, bad news for the opposition that will soon attempt to get in this way.

The first of those Premier League opponents comes in the form of Leeds and although there is little value in backing Pep Guardiola’s men to win, value can be found in the shape of Haaland the hitman adding to his already burgeoning tally of goals for the club.
