NBA Betting Preview – 20th February 2020
It seems as if a lot of time has passed since our last NBA Preview post last week. A week without any regular season action passes slowly, even with an exciting All-Star break in between.
There was plenty of drama in Chicago over the weekend with Aaron Gordon being ‘robbed’ off the Dunk Contest title for the second time, Buddy Hield won the 3-Point with a last-second buzzer beater while Team LeBron rallied back to beat Team Giannis in Sunday night’s epic Elam ending.
There’s about 30 games left on the schedule and every notch in the win column will be crucial from here on out.
Miami Heat @ Atlanta Hawks
When: Thursday 20th February @ 19:35
Where: Philips Arena
Odds: Miami Heat (-6.5) -105 Atlanta Hawks (+6.5) -111
Miami head to Atlanta with two of All-Star Saturday night’s big winners in their roster.
Our Pick: Miami Heat -256
The Miami Heat are in need of a win this week after losing six of their last ten games. That includes a disappointing loss to the Utah Jazz last Wednesday. The franchise did have a positive weekend in Chicago though with Bam Adebayo and Derrick Jones Jr. winning the Skills Challenge and Dunk Contest respectively.
The Atlanta Hawks’ All-Star representative, Trae Young, was one of the most prominent figures over the weekend. He featured on all three nights including a starting appearance on Team Giannis on Sunday night. Young is averaging 29.7 points-per-game this season and you can back him to score over 29.5 points at -120 with VIP Sports.
In the moneyline betting we can see only one winner. Back the Miami Heat to win at -256 with VIP.
Boston Celtics @ Minnesota Timberwolves
When: Friday 21st February @ 8:05PM
Where: Target Center
Boston can close the gap on the Toronto Raptors with a win in Minnesota.
Our Pick: Boston Celtics
A road trip to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves has become one of the easiest assignments in the NBA. Minnesota have a 7-20 record in the Target Center this year. The Celtics have played and beaten the T’wolves twice this season and they will be confident of adding a third on Friday night.
Boston recorded a big victory just before the All-Star break with Jayson Tatum recording 39 points in a 141-133 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Brad Stevens will be hoping for a repeat of that performance and for his other key men to follow suit as we head towards the playoffs.
We’re tipping a big win for the Celtics on Friday night. Back them to win on VIP Sports.
Philadelphia 76ers @ Milwaukee Bucks
When: Saturday 22nd February
Where: Fiserv Forum
Many pundits predict that this will be the Eastern Conference Finals pairing in May.
Our Pick: Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo had one of his best performances of the season in their last meeting this season. The Greek Freak scored 36 points and recorded 20 rebounds as the Bucks won out 112-101 on the 6th February. Giannis suffered a rare loss at the weekend as his team lost to Team LeBron on Sunday night.
The Sixers have picked up over the last number of weeks although their away form has been terrible. Their 9-19 road record matches that of the lowly New York Knicks. Brett Brown has a lot of work to do to turn this roster into a real championship contender. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons still seem to have their wires crossed on the offensive end while Al Horford hasn’t performed up to scratch this season.
The Bucks are on course to break the 70 win barrier this season and we can see them adding another W this Saturday night. Back the Bucks to win with VIP.
