UCL Outright Betting – Teams to Surprise in European Soccer Next Season
With a new European soccer season now just a few weeks away, it is fair to say that excitement is building between pundits and punters alike and with any new campaign that lurks around the corner, it means the next edition of the Champions League is never too far away. UCL outright betting opportunities emerge as we learn more about transfers and see quads develop.
Which means the cream of Europe’s elite will do battle in a bid to conquer the continent and with Real Madrid once again ruling the roost in 2022, the Spanish giants will now aim to win the competition for a 15th time in their history.
However, there are a number of soccer powerhouses that will be standing in the way of such a feat and although the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich will fancy their chances, they are certainly not the only contenders either.
Especially when you consider the depth of quality within then Champions League field and in this article, we are not going to focus on the usual suspects. Instead, we are going to shine a spotlight on those outfits that may just cause a surprise across the course of the European season.

Chelsea – UCL Outright Betting Odds at time of writing +1200
Although Chelsea were sailing through rather rough waters at the tail end of last season, they will hope that the new campaign is a much smoother journey and the reason for this, is because they are now operating under new ownership.
Ownership that now comes in the shape of the Todd Boehly-led era and although a tilt at the Premier League may be out of reach for the Stamford Bridge outfit, success on the continental stage cannot be overlooked.
Because if the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool pull clear on the domestic front, it may allow manager Thomas Tuchel the opportunity to focus all his attention on cup silverware instead – silverware that would include the Champions League.
Especially as Tuchel himself has already led Chelsea to the Champions League promised land and although their grip on the trophy was eventually removed by a Karim Benzema masterclass for Real Madrid, there is no doubt that the Blues still have plenty of European pedigree.
Pedigree that is reinforced by the arrival of both Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly and with the former Manchester City and Napoli stars now calling West London home, they will be tasked with delivering trophies to their new employers.
Barcelona –UCL Outright Betting Odds at time of writing +1600
To say that Barcelona are now labelled as a surprise outfit, says a lot about their fall from grace in recent years and with their finances seemingly in an absolute mess, there are even question marks regarding the club’s long-term future.
However, their future does seem assured for the 2022/23 campaign and even if their finances are something of an accountancy black hole, they have still managed to splash the cash across the course of the summer.
Cash that has seen the Catalan outfit land Raphinia from Leeds of the Premier League and although the arrival of the Brazilian midfielder is exciting, that is not the culmination of Barcelona’s summer transfer plans.
Plans that will see Robert Lewandowski make the switch from Bayern Munich and with the Polish hitman being a part of the Bayern Munich squad that won the 2020 Champions League, his arrival is nothing short of a huge coup.
A coup that suggests that even if Barcelona can be considered something of a fading force, they still have the ability to bring in the world’s best talents and this is why they must not be ignored in this season’s Champions League.
Tottenham – Betting Odds at time of writing +2000
Another side that cannot be ignored, is Tottenham and with Antonio Conte being given the code to their bank account, the Italian has wasted no time in bringing in no less than six new players this summer.
A half-dozen that includes the likes of Richarlison and Ivan Perisic and with the former being able to operate across all three attacking positions, it not only gives manager Conte options but also the ability to finally give Harry Kane a rest where needed.
Not that Kane will look to be rested on Champions League nights, if anything far from it. He could be rested in the Premier League, will then mean that Tottenham’s talisman is fit and raring to go on an even bigger stage.
Add the nous that Ivan Perisic will bring to the squad and there is certainly a sense that Tottenham will be a welcome returnee to this season’s European elite and after reaching the 2019 final, they will not want to simply make up the numbers this time around.
Especially when you consider the man who is now at the Tottenham helm and with his desire to win being one that will be absorbed by every member of the squad, this North London outfit could create a few surprises on the continent.
AC Milan – Betting Odds at time of writing +4000
Another club that is perhaps labelled as a fading force these days is AC Milan and although they have previously climbed the Champions’ League highest mountain in the past, they have done little to trouble the very best in the past decade or so.
However, that is not to say that they cannot hold their own against European opposition and after landing the Serie A title last season, Stefano Pioli’s men will be confident of making waves during the 2022/23 campaign.
Especially as the evergreen Zlatan Ibrahimovic has once again put to pen paper on a contract extension and with the Swedish forward showingy no signs of slowing down, the red and black half of Milan will be looking to speed up.
Admittedly their Champions League tilt in 2022 offered little to write home about, as they finished bottom of their four-team mini league. However, that experience should set them in good stead for this coming campaign.
Which means although the San Siro outfit are nowhere near favourites when it comes to getting their hands on this coveted prize, a favourable draw may at least see them cause a headache or two in the knockout phase.
