XFL Week 4 Preview
Last week we got 1 out of 3 with the spreads. We expected a Renegades win but reckoned it would’ve been a much tighter affair. There was the big shock of the weekend with the DC Defenders getting taken apart by the LA Wildcats. The previously undefeated Defenders had their first bad game where Cardale Jones threw 4 intercepted passes. Have a read of last week’s post here. The XFL week 4 preview
L.A Wildcats @ New York Guardians
Where: MetLife Stadium
When: February 29th, 2 p.m.
Our Pick: L.A Wildcats -8 (-110)
These two teams are both 1-2 going into this game. The big difference is the Guardians have looked abysmal in their last number of showings and are not looking anything special coming into this week either. Defensively they are doing the job conceding the second least number of touchdowns. The Guardians have been looking non-threatening on offense only scoring 9 points in the last two outings.
If the Guardians don’t kick into gear soon then they will be too far off the Defenders and BattleHawks to make it into the postseason. The Wildcats, on the other hand, have come into this week looking strong. They performed decently in the first two weeks but really hit the ground running in round 3 with a massive 39-9 win over the DC Defenders.
If the Wildcats defense plays anything like last week then the Guardians won’t be in the game at all. The Wildcats can hold their own on offense and have shown this in every round so far. Get the Wildcats here against the spread (-8) at VIP.
Houston Roughnecks @ Dallas Renegades
Where: Globe Life Park
When: March 1st, 4 p.m.
Our Pick: Houston Roughnecks -2 (-110)
The Roughnecks are the only undefeated team remaining in the XFL. They are currently going 3-0 and look extremely effective on offense. They have struggled on defense winning their last two games by 7 and 4 points respectively. P.J Walker is on top of the league on passing yards with 748 and throwing 10 touchdowns.
The Renegades are 2-1 so far this season. Dallas was missing Landry Jones in week 1 where they fell to the BattleHawks. They have gone 2-0 from his return even though he looked out of shape against the Wildcats. Jones has thrown four interceptions from his two starts. The Renegades have a strong running game and Cameron Artis-Payne has 185 yards which are the second-most in the XFL.
This is set up to be the best game of the weekend in our XFL week 4 preview. The Renegades were the poster boys at the start of the season but didn’t live up to the hype yet. The Roughnecks will come out firing as normal and will go 4-0 for the season. Get the Houston Roughnecks (-2) against the spread at (-110) here at VIP.
DC Defenders @ Tampa Bay Vipers
Where: Raymond James Stadium
When: March 1st, 7 p.m.
Our Pick: DC Defenders -2.5 (-110)
The Defenders had a very poor showing against the Wildcats last week. They only managed 9 points on the board and Cardale Jones looked completely out of sorts. He got benched in the second half of the game after throwing 4 interceptions. The defense also looked awful for the Defenders ironically enough.
The Vipers had an unusually good performance against the Roughnecks last week. They are the only team in the XFL to not manage a win in the first three weeks. Tampa Bay fans are calling for Quentin Flowers to get the call at QB ahead of Aaron Murray and Taylor Cornelius.
The Defenders should bounce back from a poor performance to take an overall weak Vipers side. Cardale Jones will settle down this week and put in another solid performance. Take the Defenders to beat the Vipers here at VIP.
