XFL Week 5 Preview
Seattle Dragons @ Houston Roughnecks
When: 7th March, 2 p.m.
Where: TDECU Stadium
Our Pick: Seattle Dragons (+12.5)
The Roughnecks were second-favorites in the XFL 2 weeks ago behind the DC Defenders. In XFL week 5 after going 4-0 while the Defenders have fallen to pieces Houston has jumped into the driving seat. The Dragons are on a 3 game losing streak and if they can’t find a win here it could be the end of their season pretty much. Brandon Silvers might hit the sidelines this week as B.J Daniels came on and played well last week.
Houston went on to beat the Renegades last week. The Roughnecks have won their last three games by just one score so there is no reason to believe that they are unbeatable. Seattle wide receivers need to step up as they did not provide a threat last week against the BattleHawks. The current quarterback situation at Seattle might make them a bit more unpredictable for the Roughnecks.
Even though Seattle may throw something unexpected at Houston it likely won’t be enough to seal the win. We are still tipping the Dragons against the spread (+12.5) at (-110) at VIP.
New York Guardians @ Dallas Renegades
When: 7th March, 5 p.m.
Where: Globe Life Park
Our Pick: New York Guardians (+8)
Coming into XFL week 5 with both these teams sitting at 2-2. The Renegades fell short playing against Houston coming out with 27-20. The Guardians are off the back of a win. They defeated the Los Angeles Wildcats last week after a late-game field goal. Another game with another question as who will throw the ball. Does Luiz Perez or Matt McGloin get the number one position for the Guardians offense?
It looks likely to be Perez with his hot form last week and McGloin only returning from injury. On the other side of the field, Landry Jones is missing with the same knee injury that saw him miss the opener. Philip Nelson will be throwing the ball for Dallas and that does not say much.
The Guardians are not great on the road losing both games. The same for the Renegades at home not getting a win in Arlington yet. The Renegades led by Nelson will give the Guardians a boost and even though they might not win this game will be decided by tight margins. Get the Guardians (+8) against the spread at (-121) at VIP.
St Louis BattleHawks @ DC Defenders
When: 8th March, 2 p.m.
Where: Audi Field
Our Pick: St Louis BattleHawks (-4.5)
The BattleHawks travel to DC to take on the Defenders. The Defenders started off the XFL league looking almost unbeatable now they look like they won’t win another game. DC beat the Dragons and Guardians in the opening weeks and now the question is if they were overhyped. They got beat by the Vipers last week and will have a tough game ahead on Sunday.
The BattleHawks have jumped into the second favorite position to win the league outright. They are currently 3-1 and that defeat came against the Roughnecks. The Defenders will probably lift their performance up a bit but Jordan Ta’amu will be too much for their defense. Get St Louis at (-4.5) against the spread at (-111) at VIP.
